The Lenovo G66 is a very stylish Android TV box built with a RK3288 CPU and 2GB of RAM.
This makes it a mid-range unit that is good for basic task such as streaming videos from online sources.
This unit was sent to me to review with my honest opinion and results below.
Specifications
CPU: RK3288 Cortex-A17
GPU: Mali-T760
RAM: 2GB RAM DDR3
Internal Storage: 16GB ROM
System: Android 5.1.1
The package come with with the Lenovo G66 Box, power supply, user manual, HDMI cable, and remote control.
The back has ports for Ethernet, HDMI, 1 USB and power plug.
The remote control has a USB Dongle located in the battery pack that plugs into the box.
Plugging it in and starting the G66 the inside glows blue.
The Launcher is basic and simple to navigate.
It comes with all the basic Apps such as Netflix and YouTube. It also comes loaded with Modbro and Kodi 17.4.
I uninstalled the old Kodi version and installed the new Kodi 17.6 Krypton.
Looking at the system resources being used the RK3288 CPU was barley being used while the 2GB of RAM was roughly at half.
Using the Ookla App from SpeedTest.net the WiFi speed was impressive at 131Mbps Download, and 22Mbps Upload.
It runs 802.11ac WiFi with Dual Band 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies.
Summary
The Lenovo G66 is a good Android TV box that will have no problems streaming online content.
It will stream from most any online sources such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Kodi and play most video formats up-to HD 1080p.
The new 4K Ultra HD content may start to lose frames so it is best to stay with HD 720p or 1080p resolution.
It is a nice box, built beautifully and much better compared to the usual square shaped units.
I am still testing the box and will update if anything changes.
As always be sure to read the reviews on Amazon, forums, or elsewhere to be sure a unit is a good fit for you.
